The town of Jablonné nad Orlicí boasts a rich history dating back to the 11th century. At that time, a trade route leading from Bohemia to Moravia and Poland branched off here. Initially, there was a solitary building at the crossroads where carters could refresh themselves and rest. Gradually, however, the area around the inn began to change. In 1285, Jablonné nad Orlicí was already referred to as a ‘market town’.

The original buildings were destroyed by a huge fire in 1648, which reduced the entire square and town hall to ashes. During the second half of the 17th century, complexes of houses with arcades or porches began to appear in the foothills of the Orlické Mountains, which became typical for this area.

The square in Jablonné nad Orlicí will captivate you with its unique mountain atmosphere. Its characteristic appearance, formed by stylish wooden and town houses, was declared a historical monument zone in 1977. Its dominant feature is a road bridge with statues of St. John of Nepomuk and St. Florian, built at the beginning of the 19th century.

The town hall building acquired its present form in 1831. It first served as a school, then as a fire station and post office. During World War II, it housed the municipal office's supply department. From 1979, the building stood empty. After extensive reconstruction in 1995, it became the new town hall.

The Church of St. Bartholomew stands on a hill above the town. It is built in the Baroque style. Together with the rectory and the old cemetery, it forms a unique urban complex. Next to the church, you can see a sundial from 1935.

There are also interesting things from the recent past that attract attention. For example, a wooden spoon from 1989. It functions as a water pendulum.

The town with a black bear in its coat of arms definitely has a lot to offer!
