Zawodna (sometimes called Zawada) is a charming hill 445 meters above sea level, located in the central part of the Kačava Foothills, right next to the village of Gozdno. The hill is composed of Permian volcanic rocks—rhyolites.
In 2018, a wooden observation tower with a viewing platform 16 meters high was built at the summit. From there, a picturesque panorama of the Kaczava Foothills and the Kaczava Mountains unfolds. From there, you can see hills that are the remnants of volcanoes from about 20 million years ago, such as Wilkołak, Grodziec, Ostrzyca, Muchowskie Wzgórza, and Czartowska Skała. The “Krzeniów” basalt quarry is also clearly visible from there; its operations led to the near-complete excavation of Łysanka Hill. To the south, you can see the Kaczava Mountains range, including Okol, Połom, and the Dłużek and Marciniec ridges east of Wojcieszów. In good weather conditions, you can enjoy a panoramic view of the Krkonoše Mountains with Sněžka, the Valbřišské Mountains, and the Sowie Mountains.
The slopes of the hill and its surroundings feature the Kačava singletracks—one-way bike trails that are very popular among people who enjoy active leisure activities.
Along the main road in the village of Gozdno, there is a parking lot for tourists with a rest area, a playground, and educational signs. The trail to the summit of Zawodná is marked with information signs and takes approximately 15 minutes to hike.
